Luther Ely Smith Square
Parks
Luther Ely Smith Square is a one-block green space east of the Old Courthouse bounded by Fourth Street, Chestnut Street, Market Street, and Memorial Drive. The work of this project included site-related improvements to Luther Ely Smith Square and on top of the lid structure over I-44 (approx. 2.5 acres) and included landscaping, pedestrian circulation to park tie-in sites, and vehicular drop-off areas. Visitors will be welcomed by the new entrance to the Museum of Westward Expansion, which faces the city and is accessible via the Park Over the Highway.
